Friday was a big day. Telkom responded to the rain press release, Mondi is selling its Russian business and Novus is buying 75% of Pearson SA. Resilient and Distell released results. The Caxton and Mpact fight is really heating up.

MTN's earnings release led the day and put a major smile on my face after I punted at the shares. Many other earnings releases came through - Bidcorp, ADvTECH, Lighthouse, Italtile, Old Mutual and more. Sibanye has changed its strategy in the US.

PSG's restructure has been approved, with some opportunistic s164 plays underway. The Central Energy Fund has finished its due diligence on Renergen. Earnings updates came in from Nedbank, MiX Telematics, Sabvest and others.

BHP's opportunistic play for an Australian copper miner has been kicked to touch. The partial offer by New Veld for Alexforbes was a success. Mpact and OneLogix released earnings updates.

Two of the biggest mining houses on the market released results (AngloGold and Impala Platinum), joined by numerous trading statements and other updates.

Remgro has formally made an offer for Mediclinic. Trading statements from the likes of Sasol, Standard Bank and Gold Fields kept SENS buzzing. Paper and packaging duo Mondi and Sappi both released results.

ARC Investments announced an important acquisition by TymeBank. Cognition is looking at selling half of Private Property. Caxton's deal has closed. Absa issued tighter earnings guidance.

Massmart and Telkom released results that hurt investors. Royal Bafokeng Platinum had disappointing production numbers. Thankfully MTN Ghana, Sabvest Capital, JSE Limited, Textainer and a couple of others brought some cheer.
