Ghost Bites (City Lodge | Discovery | FirstRand | Lesaka Technologies | Mantengu)

FirstRand remains an excellent business. The market didn't enjoy the Discovery numbers. City Lodge is showing signs of life. Lesaka Technologies is growing solidly. Mantengu announced a new acquisition.

Ghost Bites (Growthpoint | Metair | Old Mutual | Pan African Resources | Remgro)

Portfolio simplification at Growthpoint is a long slog. Old Mutual was boosted by short-term insurance. Pan African has given strong guidance. Metair is struggling, but surviving. Remgro released a trading statement.

Ghost Bites (Anglo American – Valterra Platinum | Aspen | Cashbuild | Discovery | Woolworths)

Woolworths takes the fight to Checkers. Discovery is showing excellent growth. Aspen had an awful year. Cashbuild is grinding away. Anglo American is selling the remaining shares in Valterra Platinum.

Ghost Bites (Hyprop | Primary Health Properties – Assura | Trellidor)

Hyprop has sold a 50% share in Hyde Park Corner for R805 million, but what will they do with the money? Trellidor has sold Taylor Blinds and NMC South Africa for a solid price. Primary Health Properties shareholders love the Assura deal.

Ghost Bites (4Sight | Argent Industrial | Growthpoint | Hyprop | Schroder European Real Estate | Sirius Real Estate | Thungela)

A busy day for property saw updates from Growthpoint, Hyprop, Schroder European Real Estate and Sirius Real Estate. We also saw financial updates from 4Sight, Argent Industrial and Thungela.

Ghost Bites (Gemfields | Merafe | MTN Zakhele Futhi | Novus | Primary Health Properties – Assura | Remgro – Mediclinic | Vunani)

Primary Health is making another desperate plea to Assura. MTN Zakhele Futhi is cashing in. Novus is up, but on shaky ground. Gemfields enjoyed decent support for the rights offer. Look out for Merafe, Mediclinic (Remgro) and Vunani as well.

Ghost Bites (Assura – Primary Health Properties | MultiChoice | Naspers – Prosus | Pan African Resources)

Pan African Resources and Naspers/Prosus have both been winners for me this year, with latest numbers showing why. MultiChoice is in much pain. Assura is going ahead with the KKR/Stonepeak offer, not the Primary Health Properties merger.

Ghost Bites (FirstRand | KAP | Kore Potash | Premier | Southern Palladium | Telkom)

Telkom and Premier released excellent numbers, while KAP got a well-deserved klap from the market. Kore Potash has finally got a funding proposal on the table, but it doesn't come cheap. Southern Palladium is raising money. FirstRand's HSBC deal is a step closer to completion.
