Ghost Bites (Araxi | Equites Property Fund | Exxaro | FirstRand | Merafe | Resilient | Shaftesbury | Sibanye-Stillwater)

Equites raised over R700 million. Sibanye locked in a gold wage deal. Exxaro is running slightly behind guidance. FirstRand's UK hangover continues, but the rest looks good. Resilient expects double-digit growth. Araxi's Software business remains a problem. Merafe is putting two smelters on care and maintenance. Shaftesbury's London West End portfolio is strong.

Ghost Bites (Crookes Brothers | Mahube Infrastructure | Mantengu | PBT | Premier – RFG | Quantum Foods)

Quantum Foods had one of its best periods in a decade. Mantengu has a lot to do in the second half of the year. PBT Holdings unlocked strong margin gains. Crookes Brothers is a reminder of how tough agri is, while Mahube Infrastructure proves that renewables aren't easy either.

Ghost Stories #85: Why DIY investing and advice belong together

DIY investing is all the rage and certainly has a place in the market, but so does financial advice. Ghost Bites (Burstone | Life Healthcare | Momentum | NEPI Rockcastle | RFG Holdings | Southern Sun)

Momentum goes from strength to strength. Southern Sun has great occupancy, but cost pressures are evident, Life Healthcare is complex, but growing. NEPI Rockcastle and Burstone are doing all kinds of exciting things, yet earnings growth is relatively tame. RFG Holdings was dragged down by the International segment.

Ghost Bites (Burstone | Gemfields | Grand Parade | Remgro)

Remgro's NAV grew solidly this year and they insist on a special dividend instead of more buybacks. Burstone's platform strategy is growing, but perhaps not quickly enough. Gemfields needs things to improve rather urgently. Grand Parade's casino exposure is problematic.

Ghost Bites (Choppies | Metrofile | Momentum | Mustek | Orion Minerals | Supermarket Income REIT)

Momentum released excellent numbers, although they do have metrics that need work. Metrofile shareholders finally received an offer. Orion Minerals got the market excited with a funding package from Glencore. Mustek and Supermarket Income REIT are in the green, but not by much. Choppies is managing some growth in its core business.

Ghost Bites (ADvTECH | Clientele | Fairvest | Harmony | Hulamin | Italtile | Momentum | Sasol)

Fairvest's capital raise is a sign of frothiness creeping back into the property sector. ADvTECH, Clientele and Momentum released excellent numbers. Sasol's debt reduction and free cash flow got the market excited. Harmony didn't capitalise on gold price opportunities. Italtile posted resilient numbers, while Hulamin's performance was poor.
