Ghost Bites (Astral Foods | MTN | Ninety One | Pick n Pay | Prosus – Naspers | Sirius Real Estate | WeBuyCars)

Prosus/Naspers and Ninety One are flying. So is MTN, but only thanks to Africa. Astral Foods posted encouraging numbers. WeBuyCars had to adapt to significant disruption in the car market. The Ackermans are reducing their stake in Pick n Pay. Sirius looks ahead to the benefit of new acquisitions coming through.

Ghost Bites (Exemplar REITail | Octodec | Omnia | PPC | Raubex | Shoprite | Sibanye-Stillwater | Telkom | Tiger Brands | Vodacom)

In the grocery sector, we saw Shoprite with a quarterly update and Tiger Brands with a bullish narrative. In telcos, Vodacom had a great period and Telkom has built on the success of last year. Look out for Exemplar REITail and Octodec in property, along with Omnia, PPC and Raubex from the "real" economy. Finally, Sibanye settled with Appian.

Ghost Bites (Altron | Ethos Capital | Exxaro | MTN Rwanda | Oceana | Pepkor | Redefine Properties | Santova)

Pepkor shows what is possible in retail. Santova paints a worrying picture around SA trade. Altron is a mixed bag, while Redefine looks solid and MTN Rwanda adds to the positivity around Africa. Oceana had a better than expected finish to the year. Ethos Capital is moving closer to a full value unlock. Exxaro sold a business.

Ghost Bites (Astoria | FirstRand | iOCO | Pick n Pay)

Pick n Pay's losses remain stubbornly high, with reasons for investors to be concerned about this turnaround. iOCO is doing well these days and has given strong guidance. FirstRand took a 20.1% stake in Optasia. Astoria is adding its name to the list of companies that would prefer to build in private.

Ghost Bites (Aspen | ASP Isotopes | Boxer | Calgro M3 | Canal+ and MultiChoice)

Boxer's underlying story is good, but the IPO ruined profit growth. Canal+ will inward list on the JSE after the MultiChoice deal. Calgro M3's earnings fell this period based on infrastructure timing. ASP Isotopes locked in their biggest ever supply deal. Aspen is thrilled that Mounjaro can be prescribed for obesity in SA.

Ghost Bites (Deneb | Discovery | Equites Property Fund | Hammerson | Pick n Pay)

Pick n Pay might be improving, but they are still loss-making. Discovery has lofty medium-term targets. Equites Property Fund remains bullish on SA vs. UK. Hammerson is enjoying strong support in the debt markets. Deneb is acquiring 80% in Dawning Filters.
