Ghost Bites (Aspen | Capitec | City Lodge | Nampak | Pan African Resources | Trustco)

Capitec's excellent growth story continues. Pan African Resources made a fortune in 2025. Aspen's interims are predictably awful, but they are looking to the future. Nampak's business update is encouraging. City Lodge's growth was offset by currency moves. Trustco's Meya Mining raised debt for its diamond mining ambitions.

Ghost Bites (Datatec | Glencore | Harmony Gold | Hyprop | Impala Platinum | Mpact | The Foschini Group | RCL Foods | Southern...

The Foschini Group released an ugly set of numbers, while Hyprop confirmed an important retail trend. Southern Sun has locked in a great deal. There are mining updates from Glencore, Harmony Gold and Impala Platinum. 377 jobs are on the line at Mpact. At RCL Foods, the sugar industry is hurting them. Super Group is on the wrong end of the UK automotive sector. Zeder is finally selling Zaad. Datatec announced a bolt-on acquisition.

Ghost Bites (Mr Price | Reinet | Valterra Platinum)

Mr Price is pushing ahead with the NKD deal. Valterra Platinum had a spectacular second half in 2025. Reinet's lack of share buybacks is a strong signal that they have big plans for their cash.

Ghost Bites (BHP | Merafe)

BHP's first half is encouraging and the company has upgraded guidance for 2026 in copper as the key commodity. The guidance for the Jansen project is a sign of inflationary pressure, though. Over at Merafe, ferrochrome production has dropped to negligible levels.

Ghost Bites (Curro | Hulamin | Labat Africa | Sanlam)

The Curro deal gets the green light. Sanlam is doing important deals in India across the various Shriram investments. Labat Africa's numbers look very interesting. Hulamin's full year numbers are likely to be awful.

Ghost Bites (Anglo American | ASP Isotopes | DRDGOLD | Jubilee Metals | Nedbank | Schroder European Real Estate | South32)

ASP Isotopes will shortly implement the Renergen deal. Nedbank has finished the sale of Ecobank. Anglo American got another regulatory approval for Teck. Schroder European Real Estate has a tenant problem, South32 has an energy problem and DRDGOLD has a mining unions problem! Jubilee Metals looks ahead to a much better FY26 (hopefully).

Ghost Bites (Aveng | British American Tobacco | Gemfields | RMB Holdings | Schroder European Real Estate | Stor-Age | Trematon)

Stor-Age raised capital at a premium to NAV. Gemfields looks brighter. Aveng won't be selling McConnell Dowell for now at least. British American Tobacco unlocked over R7 billion in cash. RMB Holdings received an expression of interest from Atterbury. Reality has hit at Trematon. Schroder European Real Estate is a struggle.

Ghost Stories #86: The “always-on” mentality at Sirius Real Estate

Sirius Real Estate is a great example of a JSE-listed property fund that gives local investors a chance to participate in offshore markets. With a strategy focused on the UK and Germany, Sirius follows an “always-on” mentality to the opportunities in those markets. To understand more about the strategy of the fund and how they win in these markets, I was joined by a full house of CEO Andrew Coombs, CFO Chris Bowman and CIO Tariq Khader. Get ready to learn all about Sirius and the opportunities for this fund.
