Ghost Bites (Bank ratings upgrades | Mantengu | MAS | Oando)

Several SA banks have enjoyed a ratings upgrade from Fitch. A new bidder has emerged for Mantengu's Blue Ridge Platinum. PKMI's bid for MAS shares ended in a puff of smoke and not much else. Oando is a vertically integrated energy company that nobody talks about.

Ghost Bites (Absa | Fortress Real Estate | Gemfields | Harmony | Hudaco | PBT Holdings | Sun International | Sephaku | Resilient |...

A huge day of news saw updates across many sectors on the JSE. Absa, Harmony, Hudaco, PBT Holdings, Sephaku, Resilient REIT and Thungela gave detailed updates. Sun International's revenue is on track. Gemfields is in serious trouble. Fortress had no problem raising the capital.

Ghost Bites (African Media Entertainment | Aspen | Delta Property Fund | Dis-Chem | Nampak | Remgro | SPAR)

SPAR is now a catastrophe. Dis-Chem's valuation makes it a sitting duck. Mediclinic is enjoying the benefit of operating leverage. Nampak was dragged down by one local segment. Aspen is considering share buybacks. African Media Entertainment is growing in a tough market. Delta Property Fund is making progress.

Ghost Bites (Cashbuild | Clicks | Sasol | Spear REIT | Valterra Platinum)

Clicks is growing, but nowhere near fast enough for the valuation. Cashbuild has some positive momentum. Sasol's guidance for the year is encouraging. Spear REIT had no trouble raising the R1 billion in equity. Valterra Platinum's production numbers need to be viewed carefully.

Ghost Bites (Anglo American | AngloGold | Dis-Chem | enX | Sibanye-Stillwater | Spar)

Dis-Chem is focusing on market share gains and the benefits of its rewards programme. Spar can only dream of that world, as they now scramble to find a new CEO. Major mining updates came in from Anglo American, AngloGold and Sibanye-Stillwater. enX is selling the rest of the WAI business to Trichem.

Ghost Bites (Cashbuild | Pan African Resources | Spear REIT)

Pan African Resources is quite literally printing cash at the moment. At the other end of the spectrum, Cashbuild has painted a worrying picture about our economy. At Spear REIT, the focus on the Western Cape continues to pay dividends - literally.

Ghost Bites (Clicks | Reinet | Sasol | South32 | Truworths)

Sasol had a huge day thanks to fuel volumes. Clicks and Truworths are perfect examples of how share prices respond based on expectations vs. results, not just the results themselves. South32 is on track this year. Reinet's NAV has dipped slightly.

Ghost Bites (4Sight | Adcorp | Afrimat | ASP Isotopes | Clicks | Labat Africa | Raubex | Sasol)

Sasol set tongues wagging with a production update and a sharp rally in the share price. Afrimat's share price also moved much higher thanks to positive momentum. Clicks released great numbers, while financial updates came through from 4Sight, Adcorp and Raubex as well. In deal news, ASP Isotopes is making an acquisition in the US and Labat Africa is selling the cannabis assets.
