Ghost Bites (Astral Foods | Glencore | KAP | MTN Ghana)

Astral Foods had a stunning second half. Glencore has given tighter guidance for the full year. MTN Ghana had a strong quarter. KAP is trying to fix the economics of PG Bison's Cape-based forestry assets through a merger.

Ghost Bites (Capitec | Grindrod | KAP | Lighthouse | Nedbank | Truworths)

Capitec just doesn't stop growing, but Nedbank is acquiring iKhokha to try get a slice of the action. Truworths has suffered a earnings knock, with SA looking especially weak. KAP is doing worse than expected. Grindrod's core earnings are flat. Lighthouse's dividend is up.

Ghost Bites (Gemfields | Impala Platinum | Italtile | MTN Uganda | Powerfleet | Rainbow Chicken)

Rainbow Chicken's HEPS has jumped sharply, while Impala Platinum's earnings have plummeted and Italtile has come in pretty flat. MTN Uganda remains a star in Africa. Gemfields found a buyer for Faberge. Powerfleet's numbers are still very messy due to acquisitions.

Ghost Bites (BHP | Hyprop – MAS | Quantum Foods | Valterra Platinum | Vodacom – Remgro)

Hyprop has put in a conditional offer to MAS shareholders. Vodacom and Remgro tweaked the terms of the fibre deal. BHP's production is strong, but iron ore prices are weak. Valterra Platinum's production ruined the first half numbers. Quantum Foods has had some shareholder register developments.

Ghost Bites (Hyprop | Primary Health Properties – Assura | Trellidor)

Hyprop has sold a 50% share in Hyde Park Corner for R805 million, but what will they do with the money? Trellidor has sold Taylor Blinds and NMC South Africa for a solid price. Primary Health Properties shareholders love the Assura deal.

GHOST BITES (FirstRand | Grindrod | Lesaka Technologies | Lighthouse | MTN | Mustek | Sanlam)

FirstRand and Sanlam released strong financial services sector numbers. Lighthouse is acquiring a property in Madrid and Lesaka completed the Recharger acquisition. MTN Uganda released terrific numbers. Grindrod had a tough year. I still don't know why Novus wants Mustek.
