Prosus/Naspers and Ninety One are flying. So is MTN, but only thanks to Africa. Astral Foods posted encouraging numbers. WeBuyCars had to adapt to significant disruption in the car market. Ghost Stories #82: WeBuyCars – from dealer revolution to digital evolution

WeBuyCars is an excellent example of a disruptor in the South African market, having completely changed the way people buy and especially sell their vehicles. As a sign of just how valuable the data and technology systems are, WeBuyCars has announced that Chief Digital Officer Wynand Beukes will also take the role of Deputy CEO as part of succession planning at the group. CEO Faan van der Walt isn't going anywhere just yet though - he still has plenty of energy to give the group. Both Faan and Wynand joined me to discuss the business and the road ahead.

Lesaka Technologies off to a good start in FY26. Sappi is suffering great pain, but at least they acknowledge it - unlike Truworths. Purple Group is charging up the J-curve. Sibanye-Stillwater is loving life, while Motus is also adapting well. Vodacom Please Call Me looks to be around R540 million. We saw deal news at Transpaco and SA Corporate Real Estate as well.

WeBuyCars was punished by the market. Old Mutual hosted a capital markets day. Ascendis wants to go private - again. Anglo, Kumba and Valterra Platinum released production updates. Balwin and Santova released results.

OUTsurance released blockbuster results. Capital Appreciation, Oceana and Southern Sun gave helpful business updates. Naspers has decided to do a stock split. Greencoat Renewables needs more wind. Sirius Real Estate raised further debt.

ArcelorMittal's longs business is still likely to close. South32's Mozal Aluminium smelter is also at risk. Supermarket Income REIT's latest deal is a fascinating data point for property pricing in the UK. Tharisa corrected a financial error. Mantengu Mining is changing its name.
